Prices for Nvidia AI Servers Increase Over 15% Due to Memory Cost Surge

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Nvidia intends to raise the prices of many AI server configurations by more than 15%, with shipments expected in early 2027. These increases apply to configurations built on the company’s Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell platforms. The extent of each price hike varies depending on the chip generation and memory configuration. Nvidia has not publicly announced a blanket price increase across all server lines. Additionally, server manufacturers have communicated these new pricing details to key data center clients.

Major data center operators, including Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, have been informed of the updated pricing. These companies purchase substantial volumes of AI infrastructure for cloud services and data centers. The rising costs of memory modules have become a significant factor influencing the reported server price adjustments. AI workloads demand considerable amounts of high-bandwidth and server memory, in addition to GPUs, CPUs, networking hardware, and storage solutions. During 2026, the strong demand for AI deployments has kept several categories of memory supply tight.

According to TrendForce, traditional DRAM contract prices are forecasted to increase between 13% and 18% in the third quarter of 2026. The firm also predicts NAND Flash contract prices will rise from 10% to 15% in the same period. The research firm noted that server DRAM remains under-supplied as suppliers prioritize capacity for AI-related applications. While long-term supply agreements have limited some price hikes, overall costs for server memory continue to stay high.

Memory Price Escalation Driven by Persistent AI Server Demand

In May, Nvidia announced that Vera Rubin had entered full production with server manufacturers and supply-chain partners around the globe. The company stated that products incorporating Rubin would become accessible during the latter half of 2026. Vera Rubin integrates the Vera CPU, Rubin GPU, NVLink 6, ConnectX-9, BlueField-4, and Spectrum-6 networking technologies. It succeeds Grace Blackwell as Nvidia’s latest rack-scale architecture designed for large AI workloads. System manufacturers are developing Rubin-based solutions for cloud providers, AI laboratories, and hyperscale data centers.

Meanwhile, Grace Blackwell continues to be a significant part of Nvidia’s current data center portfolio. The GB200 NVL72 configuration links 36 Grace CPUs with 72 Blackwell GPUs within a single liquid-cooled rack. Nvidia designed this system to operate as a unified NVLink computing domain for extensive AI models. The reported increases in server prices differ depending on configuration, with memory capacity and chip generation playing crucial roles in pricing. Consequently, the 15% figure does not reflect a uniform price rise across all Nvidia server offerings.

Expansion of Vera Rubin Production in Nvidia’s Server Ecosystem

Suppliers of memory continue to shift production toward server and high-performance products to meet AI-driven demand. TrendForce observed that this shift has reduced the supply of some PC and consumer DRAM products. While server shipments have remained robust through 2026, buyers have continued stockpiling data center memory. Market analysts anticipate that server DRAM supply will remain constrained into 2027, as demand growth exceeds new supply. These market dynamics underpin the cost increases associated with Nvidia’s reported pricing adjustments.

Nvidia enters this pricing phase with record-breaking data center sales. In its fiscal first quarter, ending April 26, the company reported total revenue of $81.6 billion. Revenue from the Data Center segment hit an all-time high of $75.2 billion, marking a 92% year-over-year increase. Nvidia has forecasted second-quarter revenue of approximately $91 billion, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2%, as announced in May. The company is scheduled to release its fiscal second-quarter results on August 26.
